Illumina LCD iTV as described by Ms. Noemi.

It looks promising. However, will Filipinos buy it?

You need an effective marketing team to pull it off. The iTV guys will also be facing stiff competition from the TV giants Sony, Samsung, etc.

First, they’ll need money. Either that or they ally themselves with an existing TV power. License the technology to the big guys.

Question is, what’s stopping the giants from just making their own version of the iTV? Sony and Samsung have the RnD and resources to create their own version of this then use their brand to outsell it.

My opinion, it was a bit premature to show this device now. These guys just made themselves a target for the big boys. They should’ve just started selling it and tweaking the device to customer’s needs. They should have done it quietly – in such a way that the big boys would ignore them.

Until it was too late and they were making already tons of revenue.

Unless of course – licensing the technology is the goal. If it is, they better sell it soon. Taiwanese reverse-engineers would replicate this and sell it cheap.

Concept App: MyButler – Intelligent Twitter Buddy.

Concept App: MyButler – Intelligent Twitter Buddy.

Description: Integrated to the twitter API. Will monitor your status messages and search for related content, then return snippets of data back to you.

Steps:

1. Reads input from buddies.
2. Searches for keywords based on status messages.
3. Returns preformatted messages with data related to target keyword.
4. With filter for previously sent messages. The system should not resend the same message twice.

Example:
1. User types in something with keywords “wants + watch movie”
2. System searches for recent movies from Yahoo or Google.
3. System returns latest movies for user.

Requirement:

The system should be contextually intelligent. This means that there is an option to educate system in what user’s want/don’t-want to see as replies. Example is the system replies – “Latest movies: Terminator 2, etc…” The user can send a message to the buddy “Don’t send me this or similar messages again.” Based on this, the system learns.

3 years ago I was a technopreneur cowboy. Now I’m a corporate lieutenant.

Rugged experiences can get you places – in my case a comfortable yet challenging managerial position backed by some small consulting sidelines. The result? Some decent income (closing the six-digit mark), some toys (a macbook air, an ipod touch), some security (almost finished condo unit) and a wealth of knowledge.

I’d like to say it was easy. It wasn’t. I’d prefer to say “It’s fun. Challenging but fun.”

You seen one thing I’ve learned is that instead of playing MMORPGs and other online games, people should play the real world. Play the rat race.

Put the gaming mindset in how you live your life. In games you can SAVE and START over. In the real world, you can’t. BUT… it’s the risk you just have to take if you really want to learn. Jump at acceptable risks.

Don’t be afraid to make mistakes.

Next year I hope (pray) to go to Europe for a vacation and maybe get my own car – maybe a Fortuner.

It starts with some visualization. Then I imagine how I’ll play the real life game to get want I want.

You want to get somewhere? Risk a little and play the rat race my friend.

Yes, I have succumbed to the Apple side.

I’m now a macbook air user.

Why a macbook air? I’ve been eyeing this device since last year. I prefer lightweight laptops. In a choice between power and portability – I go for the latter. I already own a pretty powerful PC set-up at home. I needed something for mobility.

Although there are cheaper netbooks around, I decided on the Air because of the form factor. A large screen and a non-cramped keyboard was just right for me. I’ve also been curious at the entire Apple experience. My macbook-using friends claim – you won’t go back to a PC.

So when Microwarehouse announced a sale of Apple products – I went shopping. I knew they were probably clearing their inventories since the new OS and macbooks just came out 2 weeks ago. The price of the original macbook air was around P100K. I visited Bonifacio High Street on saw an Air there being sold for P79K. I decided that if the price of the Microwarehouse Apple sale was better, I’d definitely get one.

The Microwarehouse Macbook Air – P71,900.00.

So I bought it. Now, I’m a user. :)

My first problem was to transfer all my music to the the new computer (without writing on a bunch of DVDs). Luckily there were some awesome tips here. I was finished in an hour.

My next problem was installing the accompanying iLife09 CD. The macbook air doesn’t have any CD drives (I didn’t bother to buy one). I tried sharing my windows PC and accessing it through the shared CD application. It was quite slow. I couldn’t fully load the iLife installer. I couldn’t simply copy the iLife09 cd to a hard disk – for some reason windows couldn’t read it.

The solution was this HFS Explorer app that I found online. It allowed me to read the CD and create a .DMG file. Finally, I just copied the installer to my portable hard drive and hooked it up on the mac. Installation of the iLife09 was finished in around 30 mins.

So far so good. Let’s just see my next few weeks with this new baby.
