I normally don’t get angry. In fact I’m a rather patient fellow. However, there are just some cases the really push me to my limits. That’s when I just SNAP and lose it. Rather than destroy something, I decided to just write it online. In the example above, I chose to PLURK about it.

If you aren’t feeling good, your internal alarm bells should already be ringing. You need to get out of the negative emotions. How?

Some suggested methods to feel good right now:

• Think about how you are feeling. Focus on the feeling itself. Then SMILE for one minute. Hey, you might look like fool - that’s the idea. Laugh at yourself if you must (but do it in secret). The point is, the sooner you can laugh about it and move on, the better.
• Listen to music. Get your mp3 player or iPod and run your favorite play list. Make sure to play upbeat tunes. Dance to the beat of the music. Sing along.
• Read comics. I subscribe to Dilbert comics on my RSS reader. The daily comics pile up when I’m busy. Then, when I’m not feeling to well, I browse through the comics. It generally gets me to smile. Try it!
• Watch YouTube Funnies. If you have a pretty fast internet connection, surf for anything funny on YouTube. Personally, I like looking for classic Filipino TV commercials. I appreciate the creativity of our fellow Pinoy advertisers.
• Write Poetry. This is one of my favorite activities when I’m feeling extremely emotional. A good friend helped me back on the poetry-writing path. Use metaphors to explain what’s happening to you. If you don’t like poems, just write a paragraph or two. Just let the emotions out. Let the feelings flow. Once you do that, you can breathe easier.

I’m sure you can think of other ways. Point is, if you’re feeling bad, don’t dwell on it too much. You can let it in if you want but try to move it out as quickly as you can. It’s your choice. You have a choice, you know.

How does that work?

Step 1: Look for a keywords using a tool like this. For instance, say you like music. Type “music” on the search box and see the results.

In our case, let’s take a look at the words “wwe music.” You’ll see that there are at least 3,000 searches on Google for these keywords per day. Not bad.

Step 2: Check out the competition. Conduct a preliminary analysis on Google. Search for the keywords “wwe music” and find out how many other pages have the same text.

782,000 results. In my experience, anything below one million results is pretty good. Meaning, with enough link building you can get to the first page in a month or two.

Step 3: Check out how much it’s worth per click. You can gauge this by searching for the same keywords on Google Adwords.

In my research on “wwe music” I find out that the PPC bid price on it in Adwords is $0.44.

Step 4: Check if you can still buy a domain name based on the keywords. If the keywords are available in .com, BINGO! In our case, it’s not so we have to look at alternatives like wwemusic.org (still available but probably not for long).

Step 5: Compute estimated income. Ok based on our research above, if we buy wwemusic.org and start to link build it, we can probably make it to the first page (hopefully top spot) in a month or two.

According to research, 50% of people click on the very first link. Say we can make our website reach the top spot and get at least around 1,500 visitors in the site per day. At a 5% Ad clickthrough rate (from experience this is a fair number) in Adsense with $0.44 per click, that’s around…

1,500 x 5% $0.44 = $33 per day.

$33, at today’s currency rate, is P1,485 per day or P44,550 a month.

What to do next.

Buy the domain name. Put up a website on it and add content (maybe you can buy a script). Prominently place Google ads on the site. Find incoming links for it and promote the website.

Word of caution. My friend say that some businesses (like WWE) go after sites and people who use their trademarks. They might close you down.

This also takes a bit of time. You really have to work at it.

However, if that’s not a problem, go start your research and build your site! Make Money!

I’ve got a phone, some pens, a laptop, a cactus and a mug. There’s also food in the mobile pedestal at the side.

I’ve discovered that without distractions, my productivity increased quite a bit. A personal office space like this helps me focus. It is quiet and this allows me to think.

1. Get another job quickly -They lost a job but received quite a hefty amount of money (separation pay). If you get another job quickly, it would just seem like they received an instant bonus. Heck, with their work skills, they can find work easy. They are Internet marketers!
2. Be an entrepreneur/freelancer - Since they are internet marketers, there is a BIG opportunity for them to actually start using the skills for their own money-making ventures.

Here’s one tip I can immediately tell those would-be entrepreneurs. You can earn a whole lot from Adsense simply by blogging about a very niche but popular topic or creating a very specialized site using ready-made scripts. Some inspirational thoughts:

My office mate earns $15-20 per day simply by targeting a very niche but high-demand keyword. I’ve seen his Google numbers. They were quite impressive. $15-20 equals to almost Php 600 - 800 or almost Php 20,000 per month. That’s already the average salary of a junior clerk or a call center agent.

Eligio, a fellow SEO enthusiast and internet marketer earns at least $50 a day. Just last week I saw him twit about getting $60 in one day. In pesos, $50 a day translates to at least Php 60,000. He uses game scripts, adds Adsense and optimizes the websites.

Not bad eh? I can’t tell you the exact websites they use. I’m sure they’d prefer to keep it to themselves.

The catch?

It really does take a while to build up momentum for a website. My estimate? Around 2-3 months. It would be faster if you use Pay Per Click and advertising but SEO is cheaper.

The other thing is that one has to be mentally psyched to do this. A would be entrepreneur must have the courage and patience to stick it out. A healthy, optimistic attitude also helps.

Hey, it’s not the end of the world when you lose a job. It’s just the beginning of another adventure.

I’ve been busy with work lately yet I find myself occasionally distracted by things around me. One event was the major work layoff of a lot of friends. Wrote something briefly about it:

I couldn’t think.

There as a deep penetrating pain between my eyebrows. I must’ve have been reading too much. After all, I did just chat with a dozen different people from the south. It’s all fuzzy right now though.

I vaguely remember reading from the computer monitor…”It was a surprise… We had no notice… We had to sign to get the checks.” They were reaching out to me - to us here.

Apparently, there was crying.

Outside the office, I saw the rain suddenly pour.

I write things like these to release some stress. Hey, there’s nothing I could do but empathize and write something about it. Really, I find that writing about things like these help.

I chatted with my friends using Yahoo Messenger and tried to console them as best I could. I also told them to look at it from another perspective. This could just be the opportunity they need - perhaps to get out of the office, to live life a little, to be free. Maybe they could even start their own company. What the heck! With the skills they have, they could really make it. All it needs is a bit of courage and a paradigm shift.

The world could go upside down but it won’t matter. What matters is how people see the world.

You see, we tend to react to what’s around us. What happens to us. We become sad, angry, afraid or confused. Instead of allowing that to happen, take action. Listen to music. In my case, I write it down. I let the emotions out. I release it to the world.

Then live on. Be free. Smile and look at the brighter side of it.

My friends DID get a form of separation pay. It was not too shabby. With some of the money they’ve received, they could start their own business! Or they could just find new work and use the money for something else. Consider it an early Christmas bonus or something.

It all starts with them mind. Just move to a more thankful form of thinking. Have a gratitude attitude and then believe that things work out. Have faith.

There was a phrase that I remembered from it:

In one movie commentary, it was stated that this was considered lame attempt at Zen philosophy. I disagree. I believe it is a simple insight on the reality of life.

A lot of people dwell too much in the past. A typical example:

This girl falls in love for a guy. They have great fun times. Guy turns out to be a loser. Breaks her heart. They split up. Now she just cries every time she remembers him.

It happens right? It’s alright to feel the emotions when it comes. However, some people just can’t seem to move on. This girl will remember the fun times, then remembers him breaking her heart, and then cries again. She vows not to fall in love ever again.

Other people worry too much about the future. Another example:

Guy will take entrance examinations to a top, popular college next week. He constantly worries on whether he will pass. Keeps asking himself - “Will I pass? Will I pass? I hope so! What if I don’t pass? What now?”

Heck, you can plan and dream about the future but you shouldn’t be too stressed by it, right?

Instead of thinking about that guy who broke your heart, why not just think about what you want to do right now? Live like it were your last day. Meet new people! Enjoy life!

Instead of worrying about the exam, live now. Read a book! Take review lessons to prepare for it. Review and when you’re feeling too stressed.. Relax. Let the lessons come to you naturally.

Look at your emotions. It is your GUIDE to what you should be doing right now. If you feel anxious, stressed or harassed, then that’s an indicator for you to change your environment. Breathe… then look for something happy to do first.

Remember. NOW is a gift.

I finally did it.. with the help of my copyright lawyer atty vera. i sued a major daily, a 108 year old newspaper that used my photo without permission. The same newspaper that threatened to slap me with a criminal case if continued my claim.

Very few have the capability and the resources to actually challenge a media giant like Manila Bulletin(MB). Even fewer have the courage. I’ve personality met Anton and I think he’s just the man for it.

He faces a tough challenge ahead. Expect MB to do all softs of legal technicalities here. Should he win, he’ll make history. This is probably the first time an EXIF file will be used as evidence in the Philippines.

A friend comments that these kinds of cases are the ones that become textbook Law School lessons.
