Kiyosaki Gets Passive Income. Microsoft Get Sneaky Income – Through OS & Patents, Google And Android
Back in April 2010 Microsoft made a patent licensing deal with HTC:
According to Microsoft (MSFT), smartphones running Google’s (GOOG) mobile OS infringe its patents and companies who use it owe it royalties. Late Tuesday night the company issued a statement announcing a patent licensing deal with HTC that provides the Taiwanese cell phone “broad coverage under Microsoft’s patent portfolio for HTC ‘s mobile phones running the Android mobile platform.” The agreement applies to all Android-based phones made by HTC — including Google’s Nexus One.
Hardly a year later we discover that Microsoft Earns more money from Android than Google:
A rough estimate of the number of HTC Android devices shipped is 30 million. If HTC paid $5 per unit to Microsoft, that adds up to $150 million Android revenues for Microsoft.
Now, let’s pause a bit to watch a clip from “Secrets of the Superbrands”
Professor Thomas Cheatham from Harvard asked:
“Why would IBM, a huge 50 Billion dollar corporation… why would they strike a deal with this kid Bill Gates.. and they did!”
Scott McNeally, co-founder of Sun Microsystems:
“Oops what have we done now… Bill Gates will never sneak up on anybody again like that.”
And look what we have here – MS sneaks up patent fees for Androids.
Clever bastards, aren’t they?
Well, Kiyosaki did say – go for passive income with assets, right? OS & Patents are assets too, you know.
