Google Says Pinoys Love Gadgets – Maybe Because Robots Were Once banned

On Google Insights For search, we find that Filipinos love to search for the word ‘gadget’.

Yup Filipinos love gadgets like cellphones and iPads. Is it still a wonder that Philippines is still the text-messaging champion?

the Philippines continues to be the text messaging capital of the world.

My theory – this is borne out of the fact that we were once banned from watching robot cartoons.

1979 * President Marcos bans Japanese robot cartoons including Voltes V.

The effect? People craved more of it. People wanted more robots and tech.

When cellphones and the internet came around, we found a gadget-information revolution. Now even the kids of those gadget-loving parents have inherited the craving for tech toys.

Like I said, there’s opportunity here folks.

    I agree! Filipinos loooove gadgets! I’m guilty of that! Haha, I guess that’s also why people flock to websites giving away free gadgets (most recent of which is facebook.com/MyEasyloansPH with their iPod Touch Promo) they use these to always be updated, whether it be for news, social networks, or even gossip and chismis. =)
