Lotus Cobra and the 3rd Turn Giant

I’m reliving my Magic the Gathering days.

Diving right into the gameplay, I saw this upcoming card:

LotusCobra

This little snake drew avid discussions all around.

Why? Because you could bring out a Giant creature by turn 3.

How? Let’s illustrate.

TURN 1:

ForestBOP

TURN 2:

Tap Land and Birds of Paradise and drop the Lotus Cobra.

Play a land card like Arid Mesa.

Arid-Mesa

Since you dropped a land, you have one floating mana from the Lotus Cobra. Now sacrifice it to get Plains. Doing this gives you two floating mana (make sure the next one is a Green Mana).

Play another Lotus Cobra.

TURN 3:

By this time you should have these, right?
ForestPlains

Here’s where the fun begins. :)

First, Play a land (Arid Mesa).

Arid-Mesa

Since you have two Lotus Cobras, you get two mana for free (Choose Green and White Mana).

Sacrifice the Arid Mesa to play Plains.

Plains

This gives you another two floating Mana for this. Choose two Blue Mana.

Now tap your existing forest and two plains. This would be you should have 2 Green, 3 White and 2 Blue Mana. Play the Clarion Ultimatum.

Select the following from your deck:
- Two Lotus Cobras
- 3 Lands.

Proceed to shuffle your deck nonchalantly. Whistle a merry tune while your at it.

Drop the two Lotus Cobras (for free, but tapped).

Drop the three lands. Since you have four lotus cobras in play, that would translate to an easy 12 Mana.
(Yes, 4 x 3 = 12)

Now play your friendly Mr. Giant. Progenitus would do just fine.
Progenitus

Or even Rite of Replication (copy a Lotus Cobra) for fun.

Of course, this is an oversimplification.

It probably won’t be as simple as this but you get the picture, right?
