Will #bookblockade work?

The Great Book Blockade of 2009 is an article on how Philippine customs decided to tax imported books. http://www.mcsweeneys.net/links/manila/1dispatch6.html

Today, as Filipinos watched the trends in twitter, someone came up with a great idea. If EAT BULAGA could trend in twitter, why not a socially relevant issue? Like this Book Blockade.

So, Pinoy twitterers heard the call. Tweets of all kinds hammered out #bookblockade.

Here we see people at work. Mass movement online in action.

Will it work? Will this attempt force a change in policy? Will it even be noticed by the big boys in media?

No harm in trying. Better we did something that just sit around in front of our computers.
