Apple’s Macworld Goodbye. CES iLounge Boom!

The Consumer Electronics show (CES) will welcome Apple’s goodbye to the Macworld event with a bigger and badder “iLounge”:

CES organizers seized on Apple’s change of heart and announced that next year the show will have an iLounge devoted to makers of accessories, software or gadgets for Apple’s popular products.

Consumer Electronics Association officials initially allocated 4,000 square feet of space at the 2010 show for an iLounge, but said Thursday that demand prompted them to more than quadruple the figure to 18,000 square feet.

You see, for the longest time Macworld and CES were competing events. CES had more products but Macworld had, well, Apple. It split up the American gadget-loving market. Apple was seen as withdrawing from Macworld because of Steve’s health. The move also saves Apple some marketing dollars in an economic recession.

Opportunities like this abound in a “recession”. CES just made a great move.
