Is The Inquirer Online Dying?

Despite all the blogger hullabaloo that the internet is the new media channel, it seems at least one big online website's future is in peril. Inquirer Online may just be losing too much money:

As things are shaping up within the Prieto-Rufino media empire, not only would the dinosaur Inquirer save the money-losing Web operations, the Inquirer.net as a corporate entity would be collapsed and be folded into the Philippine Daily Inquirer, which, despite the similar names, has a different shareholding structure altogether.

Too much money out is simply bad business.

I've also heard rumors of the restructuring at B5media (another "new" media) network. Shai Coggins of B5Media (she seems to have left):

For a moment, it all seemed too good, too fast. We even ended up raising another few million dollars during a second round of funding some time in September 2008.

But, times are tough, I was told.

So is the recession really killing Inquirer and these other blog networks online? Not enough advertisers spending?
