A Triathlon Video To Inspire You Today

July 31st, 2008

A friend sent me this today.

First, the email message:

A son asked his father, ‘Dad, will you take part in a marathon with me?’

The father who, despite having a heart condition, says ‘Yes’. They went on to complete the marathon together. Father and son went on to join other marathons, the father always saying ‘Yes’ to his son’s request of going through the race together. One day, the son asked his father, ‘Dad, let’s join the Iron man together.’

To which, his father said ‘Yes’ .

For those who don’t know, Iron man is the toughest triathlon ever. The race encompasses three endurance events of a 2.4 mile (3.86 kilometer) ocean swim, followed by a 112 mile (180.2 kilometer) bike ride, and ending with a 26.2 mile (42.195 kilometer) marathon along the coast of the Big Island.

Next, the video:

I am speechless.

And probably something I’d be stupid enough to do as well.

Don’t Go To FHM Parties

July 22nd, 2008

Despite what most men say about going to those FHM gigs (you know like seeing beautiful half-naked models walking on stage), I sincerely recommend not doing so. The event is jam-packed with people. You can’t take video recordings (although people got away with a lot of photographs) and it’s hot, sweaty as hell.

Your face also pops around the net. Dangerous if you told your “girlfriends” you were in Mall of Asia (MOA) watching The Dark Knight. They’d say “I thought you were watching Batman on iMAX?”

Of course the above image was not at FHM. You don’t see any FHM branding around, do you? It was merely a get-together of some friends.

If you want actual FHM pics, check out Nan’s Philippine Entertainment News site.

Twit/Plurk to Release Stress

July 18th, 2008

Twitter.com and Plurk.com are two social networking and micro blogging platforms. These systems allow you to type short bursts of text. This becomes quite handy when you just want to let go of those stressful situations. My case in point:

I normally don’t get angry. In fact I’m a rather patient fellow. However, there are just some cases the really push me to my limits. That’s when I just SNAP and lose it. Rather than destroy something, I decided to just write it online. In the example above, I chose to PLURK about it.

PLURKing about your emotions gets feedback from other people. They help you relax and just let it all go away. Twitter works pretty much the same way:

In the end I was reminded to calm down. Thanks to those special people in my life who sent me some loving messages:

“Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.” - Michael Jordan

“You are a living magnet. What you attract into your life is in harmony with your dominant thoughts.” - Brian Tracy

“Remember there’s no such thing as a small act of kindness. Every act creates a ripple with no logical end.” - Scott Adams

Otherwise I might have inadvertently tripped someone on the stairs.
