Don’t These Tech Writers Read Copyblogger?

I now subscribe to over two dozen feeds on my RSS reader. With these many feeds, one can be overloaded with too much information. To sort out those I really want to read, I often just skim through the article titles. Unfortunately, blogs like Gizmodo and Engadget aren’t really that helpful here. They have crazy titles that seem to appeal more to the uber-techie crowd. Just look at these titles:

  • Mtron’s 128GB 1.8-inch SSD Breakthrough [Storage]
  • Dulux PaintPod Provides a Little Pump Action to DIY Painting [DIY]
  • Thanko’s Vacuum Cleaner Mouse Keeps Your Desk (Relatively) Clean [Japan]
  • iBand Jams with iPhone and Nintendo DS, Lacks Ringo Starr [Music]

Now, it’s probably just me, but I am rather confused with the titles. Ok, so the first one is about storage and Solid State Drive (SSD). The second is something about a gadget that allows one to paint easier (?). The third is about a computer mouse that’s also a vacuum cleaner. The forth title probably has something to do about integration between the iPhone and the Nintendo DS.

Well, I’m a relatively ‘techie’ guy so I think I’m fairly right with my guesses. It wouldn’t hurt though, if the writers there at Gizmodo and Engadget read CopyBlogger. With all the articles they churn out, it would’ve been nice if they made CLEARER titles.

Then again, they are going after a very techie audience.

And this article is just a rant.

  2. Actually I’m not really a Jakob Nielsen fan. Have you seen his websites? If they are usable. They sure aren’t pleasing to the eye. Here’s an interesting link about it.
