Is Your Website Web 2.0 Design Compliant?

If you browse regularly around the web, you will notice that the new so-called “web 2.0″ designed websites follow some basic design principles. What are they?

While looking for a new wordpress theme for my website, I found different sites on Web 2.0 Design. Interesting enough, the sites generally tell us to:

Design Simply

Websites are supposed to be focused and clean. You can still have art and color to it, but make sure it helps achieve the overall objective of your site.

Use Large, Prominent Fonts for the Titles

The idea is to catch the visitors eye as quick as possible. Communicate information in large fonts. Our creative director (in the office) even says that FONTS are one of most important design elements. Start with it early on.

Remember To Design Effectively Above the Fold.

“Above the fold” generally means the visible top area of the web page as you get to it. You will see sites now using very strong, contrasting colors with just enough white space so it’s not too cluttered. There are rich ‘surface’ or gradient effects on the text which are quite relaxing on the eyes. Navigation links are often very limited (not beyond 7 links whenever possible).

Found a Nice New Theme: Is this Web 2.0 Compliant?

So after browsing the internet for several weeks now, I’ve finally found an interesting theme that (I think) is Web 2.0 designed. This is the Envy Theme from ThemeDesigner.com. Looking at this, I think it follows the principles stated above.

I’m still tweaking it a bit right now. Do you like it?
