In web usability, you want to identify the specific tasks a visitor on your website does and try to see how to make it more efficient for them to accomplish their tasks. To do this, you usually have to record and actually see what they do while on your website. A new online tool called clicktale allows you to do exactly this.
I tried this web app personally yesterday and was simply in awe. You know traditional analytics right? You see aggregate data on all your users. You know which ones are the top web pages.
With this tool, you get to the level of the actual user. You will see video of what exactly they do! Yesterday I saw someone coming from Abe’s Fresh Friday picks post (BTW, thanks Abe), read the post on my site (took him around 2 minutes) and leave a comment. It’s that kind of simply functionality that will give me an idea of how to improve my visitors web browsing experience.
Damn, I’m really loving this web app. I immediately told PinkSEO and the technographer about this. They love it. I’m sure they’ll blog about it.
