So the phenomenon I saw yesterday has actually more than just my site. As Abe indicates, the PR update actually hit a lot of the major websites. I was surprised to see these sites get hit:

Elliot describes a possible solution – by loading your non-important hyperlinks with the nofollow tag. He shows how he now distributes links throughout his website.

Aaron indicates that it hasn’t affected rankings though.

SERoundtable was on the list of sites which saw their toolbar PageRank scores reduced, but I just looked at some of the terms they were ranking for, and they are still right at or near the top of the results for everything they were ranking for, even the competitive terms.

It seems that this PR update started two weeks ago. It may actually still continue. I’ll make sure to look a the PR movements today.
