Two Problems With The Unionbank EON-Paypal Setup
After chatting with people who have tried out the new Unionbank EON and Paypal setup for getting money online, I’ve learned of two general problems with it.
1. PayPal doesn’t always accept the Unionbank EON card. Users need to verify to get the full benefits of PayPal. A web designer friend tried to verify her PayPal account by registering an EON card on it. When she did, she received an error message indicating that her card was denied.
In a chat with a fellow technorepreneur, I was told that one needs to have some credit history with their cards before they have the cards register.
“You have to use the card both offline and online. Fill it up with cash and get yourself a transaction history.” He explained.
My web designer friend apparently used a totally fresh new EON card. Thus, she was denied.
2. It takes more than 5-7 days to transfer money from PayPal to Unionbank EON.
My technopreneur buddy tried to get some money from Unionbank EON. He transferred some cash from PayPal to EON. It was initially thought the this would only take 5-7 days. The currency was converted to pesos and took more than two weeks. My friend discovered that the transaction process wasn’t really smooth. This would annoy those people who really need the money instantly.
Despite these problems, we still look forward to using this combo. If it works, Pinoys can take advantage of many online income opportunities. We predict that this getting money online through PayPal will vastly improve in a year’s time.

just want to say that if it was the very first time that you transferred money from your PayPal to your bank it really will take long compare to those who have done it more often. its because it works like transacting between two people the more you do good transactions the more trust is build…
Xtian, I have to agree with you. Now every time I withdraw my Paypal funds to EON, it takes me 1 working day na lang. (dati two working days eh, so pag nagwithdraw ako ng saturday, magrereflect na kagad sa eon card ko ng Monday night.)

I have verified my account in paypal via eon card and I tried to withdraw a good sum of money (in fact, I withdrew the maximum amount allowed per day)… and it’s already almost 4 days now since I tried transferring, and paypal displayed the transfer as “completed” so I called UNIONBANK only to find out that the money hasn’t been transferred yet…
Ngayon napapraning nako… sana d aabot ng more than 2 weeks pagprocess ng pera ko! GAAAHHHD kelangan ko tlg un me bibilhin pa ako.
Para sa mga Bago lang mag Paypal.
1. kuha kayo ng EON sa union. Usually 1-2 weeks ma release na EON card nyo.
2. lagyan nyo nga credit ang eon nyo. Mga 200-300 pde na. Kaylangan kasi ng paypal na may laman ang card para ma verify, pero e rerefund naman ng paypal ang initial amount na macharge sa card mo.
3. mag register sa paypal then input mo yung card info mo. May charge.. pero yun nga e rerefund nman nila pag na verify na eon card mo. Then after registration.. ang paypal ay hihingi ng verification number.
4. Mag email or tumawag sa “Support ng Union Bank” at hingin ang verification number na pinadala ng paypal. Makikita kasi ang number na ito sa transaction ng paypal nuong nag charge siya ng amount sa EON card mo.
5. Pag nakuha na ang number from Union Bank ay e verify agad sa paypal account mo. At pwede kanang mag withdraw ng funds sa paypal.
6. Sa pag withdraw naman. Gamitin ang “Transfer to Bank Account” kasi mas mura ang charge ng transfer kaysa gamitin mo and EON. Sa aking experience 100php ang charge ng banko. Ang ganamit ko ay ATM account ko sa PNB.
7. Kung kaylangan nyo ng Bank Code. E google lang ang “paypal bank code” at makikita niyo ang list ng bank code for paypal.
Ang mga ito ay based sa experience ko kung pano ko na pa gana ang paypal ko. Ginamit ko lang ang EON card para ma activate ang account ko sa paypal. Eheheh. For More Info just email me.. hehehe

So I got my Paypal account verified using my credit card. Now what I am trying to do is withdraw it using my EON card. I have some questions:
1. Is it really necessary that I use the EON card first (withdraw and deposit) before I can withdraw my money using EON?
2. If I it showed on Paypal that money transfer was “completed” last July 31 how long will it take to show up on my EON card?

Virtual Credit Card nalang….
you don’t need to wait for the EON of Union Bank… as long as you have savings account here in the Philippines…
I use Virtual Credit Card to verify my account for only $10/480Php and just add my BDO and BPI saving bank account and that’s it… No hassle to wait EON for 1 week and another 10 days activation before it can be use on paypal…
Just purchase VCC today, get the VCC info after 2-12hours (depends on availability)
and enter it to paypal account… And wait for the Paypal Code from Paypal.com for 2 days…
Then already verified…
The EON card is also your bank account… I only used eon to verify my paypal account..
Its much cheaper transferring to bank account than transferring to card.
If transfer to cc or dc.. paypal will charge $5 and takes about 4-5 days plus 100 php charge from bank.
If transfer to bank account [Union eon] no charge on above 6k and takes about 2-3 days only. So much cheaper and faster.
When adding bank account Info, a bank code will be required… you can find the complete list of bank code here.
Hi! I am an Eon card holder since march po. I have already withdrawed for about 4 times na. I just withdrawed recently, kaya lang, my request was denied. Paypal sent me this message:

An electronic funds transfer from your PayPal account to your bank account was rejected today for this reason: Invalid Bank Account Information Our system was not able to process the transaction with the bank information listed on your account. Four times na using the bank account option? or using the card? na-deny din ako once kasi mali tlga ang nilagay kong bank account number, kasi that time, first time kong magwwithdraw using the bank account mode. Pero do not worry, ibabalik ng PayPal sa funds mo ung pera na ni-withdraw mo kaso nga lang may charge. :)

J, weird nga. Hindi kaya nagexpired na ung EON mo? Pero naaaccess mo pa ba ung online account mo sa Unionbank? ‘Di ko rin alam eh kung bakit. Saka kung may mag edit nung account number na naka file sa Paypal mo, may mag eemail sayo about that. Mag card ka na lang next time?
J, this could happens when the paypal name you use and the EON account is not the same. They have to be exact the same name. A missing “jr” on either account is an example could prompt that error. It takes months for paypal to notice this, it’s why you get to withdraw 4 times before.
4 months palang po yung card ko,sa 2012 pa mag eexpired. im so confused nga po eh. ano po ibig sabihin ng mag card? thanks po sa pagtulong.. di pa po ako masyadong magaling when it comes to this, im only 19 huhu :(

you should have at least P200 on your account before you can validate it with paypal.. its a fee they charge.. mine worked after I deposited P200..
anyway, my main problem with EON is tha I cant purchase airline tickets with it.. laging declined kahit may lamang pera.. i dont know whats up with this..

1. Denied — denied ka kasi u have forgotten to deposit at least 300 pesos sa account mo. How can paypal verify your account kung walang laman ang account mo. COMMON SENSE please!!!!
2. You have to confirm your Card.. First after na madeduct yung 1.95 dollars sau.. log in sa eon account mo through unionbankph.com, then check your history.. look for paypal code.. at ipansak mo doon sa kung saan kinakailangan ng paypal.. now that will work!
3. People usually think money withdrawn from paypal takes 4-10 days… ACTUALLY, 2-3 days lang andyan na. Kasi naman, isipin mo na bank account yan di credit card… Iwithdraw mo sa bank account mo, not sa credit card mo. 50 lang ang charge and not $5.
Common sense lang ang kailangan natin, di puro dada!

I had the same problem with the guys who still weren’t able to have their money reflected on their bank statement. It is almost a week now since paypal completed the withdrawal request and I still cannot see the $200 in my account. Nakakapraning and EON and to think this is my first transfer!

I just had my EON. I dunno if I did it correctly. I added my EON Account to the Add Bank Account option with paypal. Then I withdrew funds from my paypal account by using the “Withdraw funds to your bank account” option. Paypal indicated that the transaction is “completed” but it has already been 3 days now and the funds still does not reflect on my EON account.
Did I do it wrong? Some say that I should have done it with the “Withdraw funds to your card” option since EON is a debit card. Other say any option wil do, “to bank account” or “to Card”.
Im worried coz i transfered a big amount of money.

I have same problem. It’s my first time to withdraw paypal using my EON. I withdrawn it last April 29 and the status was already “completed” but until now the money is not yet in my account. The paypal sent an email that says by May 6 the money will be in my account. It’s been a week but none yet. Is this normal in Paypal and EON? HELPPPP!!!!

Thanks for having this discussion we really appreciate forums like this, anyway just to clarify things with you; you have to remember that when you register your UnionBank Visa card, PayPal will charge you the equivalent of US$ 1.95 for expanded use. Pay Pal will credit you back the US$ 1.95 amount on your first PayPal transaction. For EON and eWallet cards, your account must be active and must have the equivalent of US$ 1.95 or atleast P200.00 pesos in order for the expanded use transaction to go through when you first enroll your card.
You will then be issued a 4-digit Expanded Use Number. But, please allow 5 days for the Expanded Use Number to reflect on your statement.
For EON Visa Electron and eWallet Card holders, you can view your 4-digit Expanded Use Number online by logging on to your account and viewing the transaction history. The expanded use number will be located next to the PayPal transaction entry description.
Once you have this number, go back to the My Account Overview section of the PayPal web site and click on “Finish Expanded Use Enrollment” to enter the 4-digit number.
***Also, please take note that your first name and surname on your Paypal account must match the name of your bank account. If it does not , the withdrawal request will be rejected by UnionBank. ***
For the transfer from your Paypal to EON, usually it will be completed within 5 Banking/Working Days. It takes 4 Banking/Working Days before UnionBank receives the money from Paypal, and then it takes 1 Banking/Working Day for UnionBank to credit the amount withdrawn to your EON Account. However, this may be shorten depending on the relationship you had with paypal. Meaning the more frequent you do transactions using your paypal, the faster the verification would be. Nevertheless if you have not yet received your money within 5 banking days, you may wantto call our Customer Service at 841 8600 to ask for the status of your account. I hope I was able to helped you with your apprehensions.

Nag withdraw ako last May 20 sa paypal at nag re-flect naman agad nung 23 or 24 na completed na yung transaction. Pero kahapon ko lang na realize na nagkamali ako at instead na ACCT number, card number ang nailagay ko sa withdrawal.
Confusing yung video ng union bank about this. Ang sabi kasi “just like enrolling a debit card” ang pag w withraw. pinutol pa sa video yung ilalagay na yung 12 digit account number. :(
Anyway, gusto ko lang malaman kung pano nyo na resolve. I already called union bank. System down daw sila eh. Should I e-mail Paypal instead?

You don’t need to call unionbank customer service to get the four digit verification code. Once you have an EON account online, you can see the four digits at the account summary right away (A FEW MINUTES after you applied for credit/debit card verification with Paypal). I was able to have complete verification of my EON card for Paypal all in the same hour.
By the way, Paypal charged a total of PhP101.00 (as per the transaction details on my EON account online).
So just to share, here is what i suggest:
For EON
1. Open EON account at any unionbank.
2. After you have received the card, deposit at least PhP200.00
3. Then create an EON account online one or two days after you have received the card and have access to the atm.
For Paypal
1. Create a paypal account
(Since you already have an EON Card and EON account online, it’s going to be easier)
2. Then add your EON account number (12 digits) (This is where you can transfer your Paypal funds to)
3. Have your EON VISA card number verified (16 digits) plus have the 3-digit security code at the back of the card and card expiry date ready
Paypal will then wait for the four-digit code on your “bill”
4. To get this 4-digit code, go to your EON account online and choose the last 10 transactions. Again, the four-digit code should appear a few minutes after you have applied for card verification.
5. Then go back to your Paypal account to enter this 4-digit code.

Kya nga naghahanap ako kung ano ang mas magandang way para makuha ng smoothly and di masyado ang charges sa pagwithdraw at pagtransfer.
1. In order to verify the paypal account kelangan kumuha ng EON card.
2. Mas advisable na i-transfer na lang thru Bank account kc mas mura ang charges. Kesa ipasok mo sa eon card mo.
eh anong bank ang maganda, BPI/BDO or Chinabank, para mas mabilis na transaction ng pera from to paypal to bank account.
Hello po. im confused. sa paypal account po i clicked on edit/add bank account. tapos inadd ko na po name ng union bank of the philippines. and its bank code. then it asks here, enter account number (1-16 digits) eh diba ung account number ng eon card ung sa baba ng name mo na 12 digits lng? kase card number ung malaki? anu po ba tlga? ung 16 digits o ung 12 digits sa baba ng name?

I also use Paypal for withdrawing affiliate commissions but I use a Mastercard. It only takes less than 5 working days for the money to get into my ATM. You have to use your bank’s bank code in order to smoothly transfer everything to your bank account. Thanks for this article.

Hello everyone! I have $600+ sa paypal account ko pero di ko sya mawithdraw sa eon card ko. Ang problema ay di ko sya maverify dahil di makita ang card statement na ndun ang 4 digit paypal security/expanded code na kailangan.
Ang question ko ay saan ko makita itong card statement and paanu ko sya hanapin. Months na binibilang at naghihintay ako pero wala talaga akong makitang card statement na andun ang 4 digit code for verification. Anybody could help? Thanks

I wish I all of the postings I’d known from the start, and I really wish Union Bank staff informed me of this 3 weeks ago. I transferred funds from Paypal to EON, today’s the 4th day, and the money’s still not reflected in my EON account. Can’t Union bank say all these things UPFRONT so clients are more informed? To think that they’ve got a big market for EON card users since more and more people do business online? Can’t Union Bank have something like ‘EON Card Tips for the New User,’ Or ‘Paypal and EON.’…Maybe it would’ve been better if Union Bank says ‘if you’re a new user, forget about the bank transfer first, because it usually takes 8 days for you to get the money’ (customer service of Union Bank just told me it takes 8 days, btw)…It’s very frustrating because I haven’t gotten my 2 payments yet, it’s been 4 days, and all I can do is wait…
You don’t need to wait that long to get your money from Paypal. Use your eon card, not as a credit/debit card but add it as a regular bank account using the account number. It should take less than 2 days or 2 days at most to get your money. ^^
idk but this my nth times to withdraw, my pending (and still waiting) is $140, almost 4th day na now, noon, took only 2 days at most. idk what happened? any suggestions?
hello, thank you for sharing this information, it really help us specially yung mga katulad natin na in concern sa online business,,, just want to ask if what’s the maximum allowable withdrawal sa eon card, I’d emailed paypal and replied back that, for verified paypal account, 2,500$ would be the maximum allowable withdrawal per day or per transactions?
