Confirmed: Get PayPal Money Through UnionBank EON

After John's post on card services supporting PayPal Philippines, I had to confirm with someone who actually had one of the cards identified. I chatted online with Noli Mirador, who had a UnionBank EON card. See a short transcript of our converstion (sorry, for non-Pinoys, it's in Filipino):

Bok: na try mo na paypal
Bok: ?
Noli: yap
Bok: does it work?
Bok: ahh
Noli: were you from?
Bok: pwede raw withdraw form EON
Bok: from EON
Noli: yap..
Noli: pagka withdraw mo to card sa paypal, after 5-7 days daw ang clearing..
Bok: wow
Noli: un kung verified na eon mo..
Noli: heheh
...
Bok: thanks sa heads up
Bok: on the EON thing
Noli: np
Bok: so nasubukan mo na nga yung EON? kaso 7 days to clear?
Noli: yap..
Bok: magkano nga pala charge
Bok: extra charges?
Bok: sa pag transfer from PayPal to UnionBank?
Noli: i think sa paypal per transaction/withdrawal is $10
Bok: ok thanks

So it seems to work like this: You transfer your money from PayPal to your UnionBank Account. It takes around 5-7 days to clear. When it does, you can then withdraw the cash. Hmm. 5-7 days is a long clearing time (but still personally okey by me). There is a transfer fee of around US$10.

What's great about UnionBank EON is that you can actually apply for it online and just pick up the card. It takes only P350 to open it up.

I suspect a lot of people will get this card. I'm applying for one right now.

UPDATE: From my friend, Angelo (about getting UNIONBANK cards online):

Angelo: They will call you when your card is ready for pickup tapos bayad ka lang pagkuha mo.

So, when your UnionBank card is ready, they will call you. You pay for it when you get it.

  1. Thanks for closing the loop on this :)

  2. Thanks for the great news! design jobs extravaganza!

  3. AFAIK, $5 lang yung fee kahit magkano yung e-withdraw mo.

  5. Used to have UnionBank EON in the early 2000s. The I applied for another one after around two years because I was not able to maintain the first one. Wala na rin siguro itong isa pa. :p

  6. Great news! What about thru BDO?

  7. ayos. kuha na rin ako nito.

  8. thanks for the info! i’m applying one too just now.

  9. uy Buti na lang my EON na ako :)

  10. How much does it cost to maintain an EON account and how much does it cost to withdraw cash from Paypal to EON?

  11. I’m still going to drop by BDO-EPCI again. My schedule changed last week and wasn’t able to do so. Been waiting for their call after my first visit, so I’ll just visit them again. I have lots of questions for BDO-EPCI, maybe that’s why they haven’t called me yet. BDO is MasterCard only, while EPCI have Visa Electron (like Unionbank’s), with the merger, it is still unclear whether the EPCI Visa Electron will be retained. So far, my colleagues who have an EPCI VIsa Electron can still use it.

And on that matter, so far, they were able to use it for PayPal, they still have to try to withdraw.

Citibank already confirmed through a colleague. Citibank issued him an overpayment cheque and he was able to withdraw the funds he transferred from his PayPal to his Citibank Visa “credit” card.

For Citibank, you have to visit them, ask them for an overpayment cheque, then they will issue it to you.

  12. So, was Noli already able to get the cash from PayPal to EON? The comments just said:

Noli: pagka withdraw mo to card sa paypal, after 5-7 days daw ang clearing…

but it does not yet confirm whether or not he received the money. still quite hanging.

    Additional Clarifications:

    1. Is $5 the PayPal withdrawal fee to an EON account?

    2. Is the $10 the transfer fee from Paypal to EON?

    3. So, all in all, to withdraw from PayPal, you will be deducted $15?

Please correct my understanding if necessary.

    Thanks!

  13. Yes and no.

    Quoting from my blog:
“According to PayPal, the “Minimum Withdrawal Amounts” for each currency are:
    US Dollar – U$10.00
    Aus Dollar – A$15.00
    Can Dollar – C$15.00
    Jap Yen – Y1000″

    #2:
“there is a U$5.00 cost for transfering your PayPal money to your card. So if you are going to withdraw U$10.00 from your account, you should have an extra U$5.00 for the fee payment.”

    and finally, #3:
“according to PayPal, “currency conversion fees may also apply.”

So yes, your #1 is correct.
No, there is no $10 transfer fee, making your #3 question answered as well :)
Do not forget my #3 “currency conversion fees may also apply”, local banks are known to charge for it. So don’t be surprise.

Also, I forgot to mention in my previous comment, the 5 to 7 days clearing time is a PayPal standard, not the bank’s. The clearing time of the banks is another set of “days” – that is, if they want to clear it themselves.

PayPal’s site is not user friendly, but the answers are there. I have to spend time browsing their old and new site just to get those – ie fees, clearing time, etc.

  14. I appreciate the prompt response. So, was Noli already able to get the cash from PayPal to EON? :)

  15. Congratulations Charles! Glad to hear about your luck with the PayPal-EON combo.

  16. Thanks Jozz. I hope other Paypal philippine users can withdraw their funds from paypal to EON with no problems and hassles.

  17. i still have 2 transactions(total of $990) dated October 18 and 20 that haven’t cleared from my EON yet. So thats over a month now. I can’t believe why its taking THEM that LONG to process my withdrawal.

Anyone had any similar problems with their paypal to eon withdrawal?

  18. Ladies and gentlemen, this is Gio, the famous internet marketer who earns gazillions online.. gazillion centavos. LOL.

    Can’t relate Gio – I still am playing with small change. I haven’t made $900 yet. :)

  19. woow! $990? Is that one month?! Bigatin! Is that just from ads or are you selling something??

  20. Peach,

Yes thats just from a month earnings.

Its a little bit of everything. TLA, Adsense, blogging, web designing, seo, spamming :), etc..

It’s over a month now(1 month and 7 days to be exact) but i still can’t SEE my money from my eon.

I already called Unionbank’s Customer service a couple of times but nobody seems to know what the hell is happening. I called them again yesterday and told me that there was indeed two pending withdrawals that haven’t cleared yet. That is my October 18 and 19 withdrawals.

NOw im still waiting for these funds to reflect on my EON account.

  21. That’s bad, Gio. So, what did the customer service representatives offer as a solution?

    thanks.

  23. im still waiting for my EON card so i can withdraw my Paypal Money!

tagal naman kasi ma process yung application for EON eh..

  24. any feedback on withdrawals?

from experience the local backs are notorious for clearing U$…

  25. finally, i got my money cleared on my EON just when im about to consult a lawyer. It took them almost 2 months to process my paypal to eon withdrawal.

pero i still think i need some explanation bakit ganun katagal.

  26. Gio,

I think the explanation is pretty simple.. the longer they have your money, the more then can earn from it…

multiply that by 1,000 people or 10,000 can you imagine how much money they earn on interest alone from delaying payment for 2 months?

  27. Anton, in my case they keep saying that they still haven’t “detected” the incoming funds. I sure hope they’re not lying.

  29. hi guys,

i think its confirmed that Union bank EON takes paypal but i dont think its hassle free.

Have anyone got his/her money at hand? I think Union bank just publicized wrongly. To make us excited. But will left us hanging.

  30. Hi. :)

I think it’s because the money you withdrew was A LOT, Gio. :) I mean, around Php 45,000 is not small change. Unionbank may have had fears on it being munnylaundering munny. :p

As for me, because I had heard how some of you guys hadn’t received your munny for weeks, kinulit ko ng kinulit yung Unionbank, with a dramatic final email na baka di ko na nga gamitin kung hindi maibigay sa akin yung pera. I told them that despite the scary stories I’ve seen around, I had signed up for EON “on faith,” and even recommended it to my parentz. I think that got them. Ahehe. :p

So yun,”miraculously,” I got my munny (super much less than Gio’s revenue, I assure you) within hours of the email. :p

And then the munny I got was Php 200 less than what I was supposed to get.

I hate how these banks are sometimes so unscrupulous. :(

If I find a better facility than EON, I’m switching to it!

    Hmph!!!

  31. got my EON yesterday, sabi nila after 3 days pa raw maaactivate!

    kaso for review pa
need pa din pala ng proof of billing,
    change password
    change security questions
    plz help

  33. hi!

    thanks!

baka naging limited ung status mo?

  36. UNION BANK WALANG KWENTA….

Bulok ang service ng bangkong eto…

I had sent money from paypal to Unionbank last Oct 3 but until now i didn’t received anything. I am earning my monthly income on the net and im reserving that one for our bills here in our house since im the only one earning.

But because of this CORRUPT and DISGRACEFUL Garcia owned bank, our electricity and water were cut off, and were two months delayed with our apartments rent..

To my kababayans DO NOT ever put your money on this WORTHLESS And GREEDY Bank..

    Andy

  37. Hi ask ko lang po kung bakit d po nagreflect sa bank account ko yung money na ibinayad sa akin thru paypal. its been a month na already. I added my EON na sa paypal pero wala pa rin. Can you help me po

  38. mas ok if ung mga bayarin natin like sa house renthal, tubig at kuryente bills accept paypal noh… wala ng mga service fees or charges di ba

  39. 5-7 days? tagal naman. tapos based on what i’m reading here, pwede pa magloko pag natransfer na. oh no… so is it much better to just use another bank when transferring the funds from your paypal? anong recommended bank for this — bpi, bdo, pnb??

  40. it’s not true, i made several withdrawals from paypal to my eon, it took 3 days clearing, sometimes overnight lng. though you will receive message from paypal that it will take 5-7 days clearing, but it never happened to me, max na yug 3 days, yun ay kung working day ka nagwithdraw. wala namang service charge as long as minimum 7thou ang withdraw mo. i trusted eon withdrawal than bpi, kasi sa bpi they charge 250pesos and metrobank too. but in eon, walang service charge.

  41. elvie, baka nag improve na yun service. Take note 2008 pa yun mga post na nauna sayo.

  42. ah talaga may may charge pla sa metrobank? I’m planning to withdraw funds pa nman from paypal to metrobank. buti na lang I read this thread.phew! Thanks a lot

  43. my withdrawal was completed by paypal Oct.3 until now hindi ku pa na receive money sa EON ko.. 7 days na and still wala pa.. can anybody give advice? may chance pa kaya na darating yung pera o ano? plsss help!

  44. UNIONBANK Official Paypal guide (sasabihin security risk ung site … just add as exception)

    https://www.unionbankph.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1061&Itemid=275

  45. Is this really true? Coz i’m planning to get an eon card. Yeah mejo hassle sa BPI coz they charge you 150 per transfer aside from the 50 pesos na fee from paypal. So overall 200 pesos kada withdraw if less than 7K. Meron ba talagang fee ang eon? I thought wala kaya nga I’m deciding to get one eh… Kindly advise thanks. :)

  46. i’ve been using my BPI account for withdrawing money from pp and its good no hassle except for the service charge na 200 pesos. (pp charges 50 pesos pag less 7k withdraw)

guys suggestion ko… use eon to verify your pp tapos withdraw money using another bank acct.

  47. gusto ko sanang lagyan ng 1k yung paypal account ko, may P1500.00 me sa Union bank ko and nka pag registered na din ako sa Union bank online, pls. help me nman po kung pano ilipat yung pera ko mula sa Union bank papuntang Paypal account ko po thanks po!! you can email me here i need help po!!
