Left Keys In The Car (Part2)

And the best answer to the previous Car Keys scenario comes from Mark Verso - ThoughtsInBinary.com. Mark commented:

Depending on the location, there are a lot of locksmiths who do field work for locked cars. Sometimes even gasoline stations have these people or at least they can lead you to one. If none is available, first I’d kill the engine off by blocking the exhaust. Then I’d go back to the house to get the key, it’s probably easier to break and enter the house ;p

Why? We came up with the exact same conclusion: It's probably easier to break in the house.

So what happened... First we tried prying the car windows open. When that didn't work, we started asking around for the nearest car repair shops. We asked the building guard if they knew anyone who could open car doors. No luck there.

We decided... Let's try breaking in the house. We took a tricycle (a motorcycle with a side car) to my friend's house. There, we groped around the various windows and grills for an opportunity. Our initial plan was to get a long stick and try to reach for the extra car keys located in the kitchen. We had some wires that were shaped into hook. After several attempts we gave up because the keys were simply too hidden.

I decided to try my card on the side slot trick. I used a thin but strong credit card-like plastic from my wallet (a game card). I slid it in between the door knob and the door frame to free up the bolt. It wasn't easy because the wood frame blocked a straight entry. I had to angle the card a bit - effectively destroying it. A few minutes later the bolt came free and the door opened!

Unfortunately there was a double lock.

We decided to try to use the look stick with hook to try and open the double lock. We had access to a nearby window but the angle was a bit off. My friend decided to look for more wires. She opened a small box beside the kitchen door to look for wires and saw some keys.

She paused and realized - these were the keys to the back metal grill gates! The grill gates led directly to the inside of the house but a second thin netted sliding door was still there. We took our chance.

After fumbling a few times with the keys, we opened the grill gates. The thin sliding door was relatively easy to open because the hook lock could be opened by a thin wire.

Viola! We did it, we opened the house, took the back up car keys and waited for another tricycle out.

We laughed at how stupid the whole incident was.

Lesson learned. :D

  1. It’s easier to be an akyat-bahay gang member than to be on bukas-kotse gang :) :D

  2. That’s I don’t think I could live alone. I’d probably end up locking myself out of my own home most of the time haha.

  3. Hey I won! Hahaha! Ahah buti nalang ok naman pala nangyari sa inyo kahit papano. ;p Thanks for the link.
