Meme:

an idea, project, statement or even a question that is posted by one blog and responded to by other blogs. The term encompasses much of the natural flow of communication in the Blogosphere..

I’ve been out of the office these past few days. Today, I looked over the Pinoy Blogosphere and saw that memes are all around!

Now, Jonas tagged me and mae for one.

First, The good news for me about being Pinoy nowadays… I initially felt sarcastic over this one but I guess there are things to feel great about.

1. Pinoys are invading the blogosphere! Why is this great. Two things - First, I see more pinoys becoming very computer literate. Second, more are eager to voice out there thoughts and ideas. Why do I think this is great? Because I believe technology and democracy mix pretty well. People who speak their minds can influence decision makers. It seems pinoys are also getting much smarter. Just look at the results of the previous elections.

2. More job and opportunities for Pinoys. Pinoys are literate in English and are heavily influenced by western culture. We also are relatively cheap to hire for outsourcing jobs. These elements give us an unfair advantage over our Asian counterparts. This gives Pinoys a very strong competitive advantage.

3. Have you been to Manila lately? It’s getting much cleaner and nicer to look at. Despite all the criticisms thrown against Bayani Fernando and MMDA, I personally think they’ve done a hell of a job. A foreigner I met says he came here 5 years ago. Now, he claims, it’s totally different. It’s starting to look like a really livable city.

Yeah, it’s great to be Pinoy.

Now, I have to tag somebody…Earl? Angelo? Gwen?

(BTW, Mae, I’ll post a reply to your meme tag later…)

Thanks for answering the meme, I likewise agree with your 3 points. :)

  2. I’m always proud to be a pinoy. No matter how successful I am or how much money I have, I am still a pinoy.
