2 Reasons Why You Might Not Be Able To Blog
Ack, it’s been 3 days since my last blog post!
I cite two reasons:
1. Overloaded with office – I’m not a problogger. I DO have real “other” work. Lately, I’ve been preoccupied with a lot of meetings and presentations. This is what I call a happy problem. I’ve have tons of work but the payout of all the work is potentially very good. Work pays for most of the bills. Blogging pays for the fun stuff.
2. No Internet – Unfortunately, the DSL lines are down at home. I am normally able to post some articles over the weekend. In this case, however, as much as I would love to write, I simply couldn’t.
What other reasons might prevent a blog writer (who really loves to write) from posting anything on his/her blog? Vacation? Mental block?

writers block, depression, or simply tinatamad :d
Hehehe, nice Liz. Fortunately, I haven’t been hit by laziness yet. I’m just really too busy!
laziness or simply wala ng masulat na matino hehe
For me, sometimes it’s a call between what’s more satisfying… a nap vs. a post. And when I’m too happy, I just simply can’t write :)
Writer’s block, and lots of “distractions” online. So say, if you’re working on a topic to blog about, you end up bloghopping endlessly until you realize you’ve been doing it for the past two hours and you suddenly dont have time to blog anymore.
Maybe, the question should be.. what inspires bloggers to blog?
Got busy leaving comments in other blogs? :-)
Manuel, wish I WAS busy leaving comments. I’m always out of the office.
Riz, Aileen and Mae: What are you doing reading my blog?! GET BACK TO WORK! Hehehe.
Sa akin #1 reason ang katamaran, #2 yung lagi ako may nahahanap na ibang gagawin. Hehehe.
Pwede din ba yung preoccupied sa lovelife? =P
Markku, wuuushuuu.. lovelife. Hehe.
This has become an informal poll on why you can’t blog. The top answer seems to be: laziness. LOL
Laziness. Sometimes semi-laziness. I start a writing an article and leave it half-finished and never ever finish it. I’m a lazy blogger, so if I can get something published, it’s a milestone.
Andrew, that’s ok. You are an active programmer anyway so you make up for blog writing laziness. :D
1. Commenting or twitting is easier.
2. I have a concept which I draft but don’t finish.
3. No time to sit down and concentrate on blogging.
4. I earn more money from developing software!
I reckon if you’re out most of the time (which has been happening to me a lot this month!) and when you do get a chance to sit in front of your computer, you’re simply too tired to think. Of course, being a quasi-perfectionist is no help either.
LOL, since memes are so in lately… I hereby declare that everyone should write “2 Reasons Why You Might Not Be Able To Blog” on their blogs!
Just kidding. All you guys will probably just copy-paste what you wrote here.
Yeah Migs, twittering (and microblogging) is probably really much easier. Sasha, good thing I’m not a quasi-perfectionist or I might not have written anything. I look back at my posts last year and gasp at how terrible I write.
I think one advantage of regular blogging – it, at least, improves writing styles.
Yea, the more you write (and read!), the more you get comfortable and confident, both in topic and form. :D
In my Blog Resolutions for 2007, I said I should blog more. That was before Twitter!
On the other hand, I think that with Twitter and other microblogging platforms, we could get more people to blog, and unrepresented sectors (e.g. older generations) I have been thinking about that for some time.
I think I shall expound on this in a new post…
Server move :p I’m itching to post a couple of new posts but I can’t since my host is moving my site on a better server. Have to wait until then… And I’m itching to do it argh..
#2: Lots of articles to finish – hell, when I have something in mind, I can not just concentrate on one topic because I will surely lost what is currently running in my mind, so I halt the current article and write a new or continue another article.
#3: When you get the ‘feel’ to write or continue an article. Personally, unless my mind is ‘on’ and ‘in’ it, I do not write or continue an article – there will be no essence and meat on the article if my heart and mind is not jiving.
#4: Well you said it, work. Just like you, blogging is more of a fun stuff for me. Real work is still my main source of income.
#5: Too many other stuff to do, like my other websites and communities.
#6: have to continually do research and studies. In this world of ever changing times and getting more and more modern, fast-paced (add that), I have to keep myself abreast of the newest technologies and updates, especially in web developing.
#7: Social-life, primarily family – of course! This is the second most important.
Finally #8, the most important of all – GOD. It is my personal principle and rule that I must at all cost, even at the cost of my real-job or love one, not to sacrifice God for someone or something else. Let God take care of the rest, He has a purpose why He allowed such things to happen, let Him handle it.
:D
Hey, after all, today may not be the time to write a new blog post, or post that article, its proper time will come and who knows, that proper time is when the internet world will be crazy they will digg it in every Social-Bookmark Services (SBS) :p
Since Gail and I run a small web design company, it makes a lot of sense to go pro-blogging on the sideline because we are also starting to tap custom blog designing.
Unlike Gail, one of my reasons why I do not blog sometimes is because of lack of motivation due to messy environment! It’s really hard to blog when everything around your PC is so messy!! As for Gail, she is used to working in a “hamster” environment and gets the all the work done kahit nilalanggam na kami pareho sa loob ng bahay namin sa sobrang kalat.
That’s why a blogger needs a laptop. So he/she can simply go to a quiet air conditioned place like a cafe and start blogging!!
