International Food Exhibition (IFEX) 2007

I’m here at the IFEX event right now and there is no shortage of food and drinks. The exhibitors continuously have free taste tests – a food enthusiast’s dream come true. I’m here as an exhibitor as well. We had planned to give away free coffee but our perculator just got busted. Such a hassle

What can I tell you about the fair? It’s my first time in IFEX and I quite enjoy the food. Unfortunately, that’s not why I’m here for. I’m here on a bit of advocacy – to tell these businesses to go online. They have the potential to reach a broader market by having a simple and effective website.

I had lunch with Aileen and she shares that it was actually much harder to pitch web business concepts five years ago. At least nowadays more Pinoys use email. I personally don’t think they’ve caught up with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) yet. I’m aggressively teaching them about it.

Just now I spoke with a Chinese Businessman who is interested in having his own website. I offered some ideas about how to design and market their business through the site. I’m doing my part.

IFEX is a great place to find food products for export. Earlier I talked with someone who sold frozen microwaveable bananas – 35 Philippine Pesos a Kilo. Right then and there I was tempted to sell them online. I already thought of creating a website for frozen banana products. However, I might not actually have time to manage it.

If you have some free time this weekend, drop by IFEX. Look for our company – AMPHILTECH. Let’s chit chat and enjoy the free food and drinks.
