Why Your Company Should Sponsor Blogger Events
Last Saturday was the Philippine Blog Awards. Aileen and Sasha hosted. This awards night wasn’t a scam. You really get an award despite not having to pay someone money.
It was also another great opportunity to meet with bloggers - you know, those people who write about different stuff on the Internet. If you are a company owner who wants to push a new brand or product targeted to the Internet-savvy/techy market, then you should get to know these people. Get to know the people who blog and INFLUENCE surfers opinions.
Why? Because you get online mileage.
For instance…
As the evening went on, I noticed the large number of event sponsors. The big telcos where there - including Globe. I was able to try out the globe visibility. I surfed the latest happyslip video on youtube. The speed was pretty good.
I wasn’t hungry that evening but found the food quite tasty. It was served by Josiah’s catering. I really would’ve eaten more pasta and barbeque if I wasn’t too busy socializing. Still, it made me wonder what packages they had for weddings.
After the awarding, Jayvee invited everyone to a open bar night. Jayvee said that it was hosted by Inquirer.
See? I just mentioned several sponsor websites for free. Nope, they didn’t pay me. I just wanted to mention them. It was entirely out of the goodness of my heart. I’m pretty sure some of the hundred other bloggers mentioned the sponsors, as well.
In the Search Engine Marketing world, free links like these are priceless.
So when is YOUR company going to treat us out to dinner?
BTW… To the head organizers Abe, Jayvee, and Gail, and all the hardworking volunteers, great job!

Ely, cool post. I had to snicker a bit but I knew where you were heading, so I burst out laughing. Not that it was funny funny, it was just amusingly — witty.
Am thankful we have people like you in the blogosphere (somewhat rightfully fusing blogs and SEO). Loving it.
Oi bawal yan! You WILL treat us out Joz.
