As far as I learned from the Amazon forums there seems to be a problem with the browser, rather than Google. IE6 and IE7 do not show the links, Firefox does, say some posts.

Now, if I have to choose between the two, I prefer Kontera for obvious reason, a click on Amazon link will not give me the money unless the clicker purchased the product while a click on Kontera gives me instant cash. I believe based on experience that you can only earn a decent amount on Amazon if your website is focused on product reviews. [...]

It was not allowed during the time of that blog post. But changes has been made on the Google Adsense TOS last January and they now allow contextual advertisement alongside with Google Adsense, as long as the ads don't mimic the look and feel of Google Adsense advertisement. See details here. Since Context Links doesn't look like a Google advertisement, it is allowed with Google Adsense on the same page. Mas masaya yan, mas maraming kita :)
