If you like bringing your digital work files and don’t have a laptop, you can buy a USB flash disk and put Portable Apps on it. It’s a nice software collection that doesn’t require full installation on a windows OS system. You could just copy-paste the entire applications folder and everything would be working fine. This is particularly useful for backing up your browser and email profiles.

Firefox Portable is currently my favorite application here. I can work with my current profile settings (passwords, and Internet settings) without worrying about security. I’m also able to add the many different Firefox add ons including the blogger friendly Performancing Firefox Add-ons. In fact, I’m using Firefox and Performancing as I write this blog entry. :D  See how it looks like.

Thunderbird Portable is a nice portable email client where you could preset email accounts and RSS feeds. I’m still evaluating its merits but so far I like it. I am able to save my Address book here. This is important to me since I have contact numbers of people from way back in College.

Gaim Portable is also nice because I can save the chat logs of whatever messaging client I use.

I’ll see if I stick around with these Portable App collection.
