I’m getting a general consensus from my friends that the Bayantel Internet lines are faring much better than PLDT. Aside from the feedback of posters at Pinoy Tech Blog, my chat friends indicate major PLDT lag time compared to Bayantel.

Over at Katipunan (Quezon City), the Internet Cafe Everything Online (EOL) can’t even connect to Yahoo, as one Miriam student indicates. When she went to another computer shop (which had Bayantel) she was able to attach files and send email.

One client, situated in Bicol, has a Bayantel DSL line and says they don’t experience lag time. Our office uses a PLDT line, and I couldn’t even open Gmail until our System Admin helped me out.

TIP FOR THE DAY: Go Bayantel. If you need to surf in an Internet Cafe, go for those with Bayantel subscriptions.

In the meantime, Angelo recommends a WordPress patch up and I might just do that. Don’t be surprised if you see changes on the website soon. I’m also considering changing the theme.

very true.. hahaha!

I wouldn’t think that Bayantel survived the Taiwan quake better than the other telcos. I’m on Bayantel right now and it’s as slow as molasses.

Really? Hm. Interesting.

Could the reason that Bayantel got service back quickly is that they refund their customers 500peso for every 24 hours they are off line that?s a lot of money so they spent money to get service back.
But PLDT is not refunding anything unless you claim it back make sure you claim down time back, they are under contract to provide you if they fail they are in breach and must refund you if you?re a business also claim lost earnings.
So they sat and done nothing for 8 days yes that?s right they did very little to try to get services back.

I’m subscribe to bayantel DSL since february and their DSL is superb, not until last october. I had numerous tickets that had been unclosed. I don’t get any refunds etc. and no visits. just return calls and the usual blah blah. that’s it.

My main concern is the roller-coaster speed that goes up and down every refresh. it doesn’t happen before. then I got disconnections at every 15 or 30 mins. I usually have my PC 24/7.

I’m not saying that do not go for Bayantel, Although this comment is to tell you that Bayantel is having problems lately too.

Another thing, bayantel doesn’t have the so-called “selective site browsing”. One time I’m a SM and need to buy a mainboard, I tried to browse to netopia on the details of the mainboard I’m buying I can’t get to open http://www.ecs.com.tw. So what I did is connect to my PC back home using VNC, called my sister for our current IP then I browsed the ECS website on my PC on bayantel thru VNC on netopia’s PLDT. Until the time I’m convinced and ready to buy the perfect board for me, the ECS site didn’t show up.

I also had a chance to use my cousin’s and He’s subscribe to smartbro. it’s faster than bayantel and and that time i had no problems whatsoever.

Finally, in case bayantel won’t show improvement after january I’ll subscribe to smartbro to compare bayantel and smartbro hand in hand then let go of bayatel on february.

PLDT sucks. They have been overcharging me. You know the Guild Wars promo last year? I availed it last March 27, 2006. It’s supposed to be charging me for 1 year only but until now they’re still billing me with that!

Another thing is I lost connection from July 23, 2007 to August 2, 2007 and it’s their fault because they already told us that the error was on their side (Loss of configuration or something like that). They told me that they will give me a rebate… but my billing came and they didn’t even deduct it!

I’ve been complaining to PLDT every year for 6 years already. I’m a PLDT myDSL Professional subscriber since 2001. That’s 3000 a month and they still have crap service.

PLDT sucks I wish I could bomb the corrupt people there.

oh and another thing… yeah i’m using the professional package… but my speed is just the same as their plan 999. sucks.

try changing your internet service provider :)

I’d definitely agree.PLDT’s not really faring well at all compared to Bayantel. But then again, I can’t really say that Bayantel’s not without its flaws. Every now and then, I still get disconnected, and at times, the quality of my voice tends to be clear one day, and choppy the other. I don’t think that the companies here have really come up with a solution to the periodic disconnections of internet lines.

I saw a 24/7 shop and they were PLDT. But then at times, they are closed. Tsk tsk. I suggest that you hook with at least 2 different subscriptions. Better than to stop your business because of a lousy connection.
