UPDATE: For More Discussions about the NEO Laptop model, please visit the Philippine Laptops Website.
Happy New Year! This is my new laptop, a Neo Endura 505GL:
This nice little system has:
Yes you read that right. For only 31000 Pesos (US$620), you could get a nice laptop with built-in web cam and 4-1 card reader at only 2.2 kg. I bought this at PC Click, over at Gilmore, Quezon City. Gilmore is known as a hub for affordable computer systems. You could travel there easily by hopping on the MRT train going from Santolan to Recto. Just get off at Gilmore station.
Last year I had another laptop which I gave to my girlfriend. Since then I worked on a desktop.
Luckily, the office thought I deserved a laptop. It would be helpful for marketing purposes. Viola! New Year, new gadget.
Update. Here’s a video of the laptop:

Hey!!! AT first, I don’t like it, but when my dad bought NEO endura(????) I forgot the name. 1 GB RAM, (I guess the smallest laptop of NEO) etc… Gosh,, its so nice,, it even outshines TOSHIBA and ACER. it’s so compact. what I don’t like is its top view, (la lang)
about 34 K. but I guess no fan, di ko makita eh,, about LENOVO, parang super strong naman ng build nya. ok naman,,, good for presentations, though ____ syang gamitin kasi super dull talaga ng design nya. back to NEO, ok talaga sya,,, super fast and with it’s small size,, you can bring it anywhere. though it’s not that small unlike the newly released ASUS (yung parang portable DVD lang) <<<<>>>> nagustuhan ko din but the specs are arrrrghhhh!!! TNX for reading!!!

hello everyone.
i’m just passing through… doing research on neo laptops for my sister. gosh! after reading all your comments, i’ve never felt so proud to own an ibook g4 (in macverse, the model is jurassic. but hey, still running on strong.)
not to sound condescending but if you want excellent quality, durability, quality service, virus-free, loooong battery life, A+ performance, upgrades availability online (which also props on your screen automatically), int’l warranty, movement sensor, get a mac.
i have my ibook for 5 years now, dragging it all over, planes, buses, etc… never had a problem. (except when i broke its battery- my fault. and i had to order a new one. a very pricey replacement of 4,500).
last year i upgraded my software to 1.25gb memory, 100gbHD.
right now, i’m running multiple programs, 7. and running emule and limewire, at the same time, 24/7! still it runs on smoothly and fast. doesn’t hang. yep, my computer is always on, months on end, 24/7. busy downloading tv programs, 100+ episodes from limewire and emule. i would, however, give it an overnight rest when i feel like it, which comes in months :) attached to it on firewire is an extra 160HD.
Oh, and here’s the kicker- i don’t have an anti-virus software. yep, never had one. never had a virus, even after downloading all tv serial episodes from csi, 24, jericho, ugly betty, etc down to the latest “terminator sarah connor chronicles”…
so, people, take it from me… go for a mac. it’s all worth it.
my problem now is… i want to get macbook air. but can’t say goodbye to my ibook coz truly, its performance is still excellent after all these years.
mac is simply a powerful laptop.
:)

just passing by… got interested in posting.
my girlfriend just bought a neo laptop, forgot the model number. so far so good, she bought it last May… still observing it if it’s going to have some problems…
i do agree with some of the posts, it’s not with the brand, its not with how much you paid for the laptop that would determine the quality and the performance of the notebook. it is on how you use it and how you configure it.
it MAC, most viruses being released by certain people on the internet are targeting windows OS because there are a lot of users with that platform that’s why it is safe to use MAC.
i my self owns an ACER extensa that’s 4 years old… never had any problems, no crashes, no lock-ups, no BSOD, no freezes. if your techy you’d know how to configure the notebook correctly, and not force the performance. incorrectly configured systems and forced performance does not only result to software problems but also to hardware defects.
a word to the wise… it’s not with the brand, it’s on how you take care of your system and how you maintain the utmost of care in system maintenance that makes the notebook a quality system.
peace and more power…

hello! i have the NEO 531 NLi and have been using it EVERYDAY for a year and 1 month of surfing the web, editing photos, recording/editing sounds, money making stuff, etc. i’ve NEVER had a problem with it. i have both windows XP and ubuntu 8.04 installed in it for dual-booting.
it don’t think it’s about the brand. what matters is the specs and how you take care of it. i have friends who work as techsupport for acer, dell, hp, and ibm. everyday, they troubleshoot laptops and receive complaints just the same.
a friend’s boyfriend bought an HP laptop for 90K (including upgrades offered by the sales person). we had a slight difference with the processor, everything else about the specs is the same but i got mine for only 30K. sulit na sulit.
now i’m eying neo’s vivid 1100. super cute.

panget ang neo!! nagsasayang kayo ng pera diyan!
pabili na lang kayo sa states kung may kapamilya kayo dun, or if you can afford the shipping fee..mas mura dun..hp, dell, sony..high-end ones are priced at less than a thousand dollars! roughly 48k dito..kapresyo ng mga neo na yan, at kalahati ng mga same branded laptops dito!
note? take advantage of the declining economy of the U.S.! haha

Actually, its the Neo customer service that needs a lot of improvement. Their staff at NCCC Mall Davao needs to learn how to take care of their customers. Ang gaganda ng offers kapag bibili ka pa, but once you buy it and then you ask for their assistance on a particular part, they keep on promising ’till your worn out sa pagfollow-up. They need to take care of their customers kasi sila ang bumubuhay sa negosyo ng Neo. I hope somebody from Neo reads all the post here.

DONT BUY NEO LAPTOP, IT’S NOT WORTH IT.
Nagkamali ako ng pagbili dito sa Neo. I got the Empriva model. I can’t use even for 1 minute. Dami ko problema dito. Ang pangit ng performance. I dumped it kahit 1 year pa lang kasi nakasira talaga ng mood. I bought a new lenovo laptop and I am so far satisfied with it.

hmm.. parang hindi maganda batting average ng NEO in terms of satisfied buyers ah. My sis bought hers last year, wla pang 1 month, nsa svc center na due to display issues. may warranty nga oo, pero ung hassle pa rin involved (plus ung lost productive hours).. tsk-tsk-tsk..
I’m currently using a compaq v3000 and a back-up Asus x80l, no complaints save for the rare lag sa v3000.
