Eragon – Fantasy Book

I spent the weekend reading Eragon. It’s a fantasy novel written by a young author named Christopher Paolini. He wrote the book when he was 17 years old. It has all the usual fantasy elements – wizards, warriors, elves, dwarves, an evil king and a dragon.
It’s been quite a while since my last Fantasy Novel. I got hooked to fantasy books when I started The Dragonlance Chronicles by Hickman and Weiss. That was my first fantasy novel that I couldn’t let go until I finished it. The story was engaging and I could really feel the characters emotions. At times while I read the book, it felt like I was there… as one of the characters.

Eragon didn’t have be me as enticed as dragonlance. When I saw that a movie adaptation will be released next year, however, I decided I wanted to read the book before seeing the movie.

I liked it enough to finish it but it didn’t have the same magic as my first Dragonlance books. The story is pretty straightforward. There were some events that I could’ve guessed what would happen next. There weren’t too many mysteries in it. I didn’t feel the magic in the story but I did like how the concept of ancient magical languages.? It gave a very good concept for how magic would work.
Anyway, I’m buying the next book – Eldest.? Probably next week.
