What Questions to Ask For SEO/Webmarketing
A person who was in the real estate business asked me about Search Engine Optimization and Web Marketing. She wanted to find out how much it would cost her. First I asked the URL of her website. Then I sent her the following questions:
1. Who is the target market of your website? Local/International? Filipinos? OFWs? Do you have user demographics about your current market?
2. Do you currently have data/analytics on your existing website? Do you know how many visits you get per day and what they ‘click’ on your sites? Where are your visitors coming from? Are they from search engines like Google or Yahoo?
3. As visitors come to your website, what specific action would you want them to do? Call or Email you? Inquire about a property? What is the ideal scenario?
4.Who made your original website? Who is your current web hosting provider? Would you like the website to stay as it is or is it open to revisions?
5. Let’s talk about conversions. We define conversions as a ratio of visits to desired action. For instance, you might want a visitor to your website inquire about a condo and eventually buy one.If we get 100 visitors per day to your website and get 1 people to inquire about a condo, and buy one —then that’s a 1% conversion rate. What’s the average value of a conversion rate for you now? If you sell a condo, how much would be an average sales figure? For instance, if a condo sale would get you an average of US$1,000 — then that would be your conversion rate value.
6. What keywords or search phrases do you think Internet users would use to find your website? What would they type in Google?
My idea was to get a sense of how to make her earn more money from her website. What other questions would you ask a potential SEO client?
