SEO workshop, Beercon, and My First Adsense Cheque
It was a rather hectic weekend for me. First, I conducted and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) talk/workshop over at Greenbelt, Makati City (Philippines). We had 31 participants and the discussion was lively. I was honored to meet Ms. Janette Toral (of digitalfilipino) and Jonas De Los Reyes of Yehey.com group. I gave the audience some exercises on how to evaluate their website for SEO. Then I gave the some points on the code as well as how to build incoming links for their site.
In the evening, I proceeded to the SEO Philippines Beer Conference. Free food and beer was served in this event and I hooked up with some of the notable Filipino bloggers such as Migs Paraz, Jay Racoma and Mr. SEO Philippines himself, Marc Macalua. I saw Jonas (of Yehey) again there and Alan from PaskongPinoy.com. They also knew about the beercon. I was honored to meet Ms. Aileen Apolo, the new Google country consultant for the Philippines. She gave handed out some prizes for those who knew about Google’s products. She promised I’d get a Google Shirt.
On Monday morning while at the office I called up my Mom. As we talked, she discussed that a package arrived. It was a DHL secure delivery package. When I checked it I saw my very first Adsense cheque worth a whooping Php 5,394.47. It wasn’t much but I’m happy to get extra cash.
The image is blurry. Benj suggests I have it photocopied/scanned for future reference. It would be a great discussion topic for talks/forums.

Congrats. I remember when you announce you had crossed the magical check threshhold. It really does take a while for the money to finally arrive.
If things go as expected, I should break the $100 by the end of the month and finally get to wait for my first check to show up in the mail. Then my wife will finally believe that somebody is actually willing to pay me something for all the time I waste in front of the computer.
