A strong typhoon hit Manila, Philippines last week and devastated?much of the power and communications infrastructure. There were billboards and powerposts that crashed on cars. Yeesh, what a sight! I wish I had a digicam?so I could?take pictures of the havoc.
At my home, we didn’t have electricity from Thursday to Sunday. Water supplies?were low?(most of the pumps were, of course, electric-powered), traffic on the roads were terrible (because the stoplights weren’t working) and many people didn’t have liquid cash.??The ATMs were down and many banking transanctions didn’t clear through. It was all such a major hassle.
Despite all that, I was still able to attend the Isulong-SEOPH.net awarding ceremonies last Saturday night. I joined that contest back in August but was unable to promote my website entry (isulong-seoph.net) this September.??Still, I was able to reach 7th spot. You can see the results on Marc’s site. You can also see other updates and pictures from the following sites:
So, that’s that. Congratulations to the Isulong SEOPH winners. I had a grand time at the event. It was really great to meet fellow techies and online marketers.
The next contest is said to target top SERPS on Yahoo with a whooping P100,000 first prize! We all look forward to that one!
I hope that there won’t be any crazy storms on the next awarding ceremonies.

[...] Reming/Durian was said to be stronger than typhoon Milenyo. I personally how Milenyo battered Metro Manila. I was rather concerned when it came. I was glad it didn’t go through Manila this time because I’m pretty sure it would have destroyed a lot of homes. [...]

[...] The value of the cellphone was accentuated when the Milenyo Storm struck Manila and electrical power was out for almost a week. I still had battery life and was able to communicate with people on important days. [...]
