Google Traffic Estimator Tool Goes Crazy On Me

It’s 7pm, Manila (Philippines) time. I was browing a very useful Google Tool Called ‘Traffic Estimator’. You can access this tool when you register for an Adwords account. Just go to Google Adwords, create an account, and click on the ‘tools’ tab that you see.

googleforbidden.jpgThis tool allows me to estimate the amount of traffic or clicks to my website should I advertise on Google’s network. I had placed in around 70 keywords I was planning on advertising for. My real intention was just to find out how much my estimated Ad costs would be. I’ve been at it for 30 minutes and suddenly I get an error 403. Error 403 means I am not allowed to access the web page.

I tried logging in again. I though I must have been logged out or something. After several unsuccessfull retrials, I decided to just have dinner. After dinner the tool worked. I figured it was some system maintenance stuff. Google hiccuped. Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

On other stuff, I was browsing through my CNN feeds on Bloglines when I saw the following:

Eskimo Village Destroyed By Fire.

Now, for some reason, I had a vision of a burning igloo.

  1. gahh. i haven’t tried that tool yet ever since they denied my site. lol. loong story.

    take care, jozzzzzua!

  2. I’m way to chicken to sign up for Adwords, but I have had similar problems logging into Adsense a few times recently. I never got the 403, but have been unable to connect a few times.

I’m always surprised when Google has login problems because of the capacity they seem to be able to handle.

  3. Doorlight, they denied your site? Now why would they do that. Kaw ha, you were probably naughty. :P So, what other TOOLS did you try out?

MIke, there’s no cost in signing up for Adwords. Try it out, just to access their tools. This is unlike Yahoo Ads and Miva, which requires a DEPOSIT up front. Adwords charges monthly.

  4. Hi!
Just came by your site again and noticed that your layout seems broken in Safari 2.0.4/Mac OSX 10.4.7. You should have a look.

    Kind regards,
    Walter

  5. I’m using a Mac OS X 10.3.9/ Safari 1.3.2. Looks ok so far. WOuld this mean my CSS breaks up on higher Mac Versions? Weird.

  6. Just wanted to mention that I had the exact same problem– and I was dissappointed that a bunch of knuckle heads just responded for no reason… I know exactly what you are talking about — I’m still working on a solution but it’s good to know it’s not my server!
