How to Get a Common Avatar/Pic for All Your Comment Posts
Posted by Jozzua on Jul 24, 2006 in Uncategorized • 3 commentsWhen you submit a comment on my website, you will have a choice to display your own 40×40 pixel image. You will see this when I reply to your messages. Check how it looks like in following picture:
You too can have your own avatar on my website. Try using a gravatar (globally recognized avatar). Go to the gravatar website, sign up, submit a small square picture and wait for it to be rated by the Gravatar folks. Once rated, you should see your avatar whenever you post a comment in the various blogs that use the Gravatar system.
Having something like this gives you a bit of personality. At the very least, the blog-owners would know that you are not a comment spam bot just automatically posting whatever nonsense. They would realize that there is an actual person behind your messages.
If you have your own wordpress blog, I recommend you try experimenting with it yourself. There is a wordpress gravatar plugin which can be downloaded and installed. Once activated, blog-owners need only to add a small piece of php code on the commenting thread. Go to the comment.php file and edit it. It should look something like this:
![]()
Viola! Your blogsite now accepts avatars!

HI Eu Leh, you might have used a different email address for your gravatar so the picture might now be showing up. I’ve made that boo boo too.
