How Filipinos Eat

Filipinos generally eat with a Spoon and Fork. We usually have viand
with rice on our meals. Typically, we fill a spoon by pushing the food
on a plate with a fork. Then we put it in our mouths, chew and swallow.
We occassionally use chopsticks whenever we try out chinese or japanese
food.

On
rare occassions, we are also known to eat using our hands. There is a
method where we can basically scoop up rice using our fingers. The
fingers are stretched out and rice is gathered in a small cone shaped
clump. The viand is placed under this clump. For non-Filipinos, you
have to see it to discover how efficient we do it.

You might find it surprising that some cultures actually frown down on our method of eating. In this article, a Filipino kid was punished by his school for eating food the traditional, Filpino way.

This
seems rather weird to me. I have known no other way of eating our food.
I would venture a guess that the principal of this kid’s school is too
uptight and probably, generally biased.
