Someone was good enought to point to me this cool SEO tool from Sitening. My website, unfortunately, had a very lousy score. I checked out the scores of other local bloggers and found they had much better scores. Because of this, I am now comtemplating moving my blog engine from Serendipity to Wordpress.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, Serendipity and Wordpress are web applications that allow you to easily write blogs online. There is an admin backend where you can draft articles and choose which ones would be published. Serendipity is very easy to use but it can be quite limiting. Wordpress, it seems, has become a bit of a standard among bloggers.

My problem right now, is that I’ve already written tons of content. I discover now that I don’t have access to Serendipity’s database. I had this pre-installed on my godaddy account. GoDaddy is my webhosting provider. Apparently, godaddy doesn’t give me access to the MySQL database on it. If I had access to MySQL database, it would have been simple to just extract all my entries and have it moved to another engine.

Another problem is that GoDaddy does not automatically update the blog engine. When I installed serendipity it was on version 0.8.2. There is now a Serendipity Version 1, but I can’t update my blog engine to it. I now think I would have been better off with either blogger or a the regular CPANEL in most hosting companies. CPANEL allows users to update the different web applications that is installed.

My thoughts now are…I can just keep writing on this engine or figure out how to manually transfer my files. I guess this is what we call one of those learning experiences.
