The Quest for Robinson’s Galleria Tech Lounge
By the way, you might want to learn FREE Internet Marketing Basics (You know, so you can sell stuff online)
I heard about that tech lounge in Robinson’s and figured I’d try it out myself.
Last Friday we had a scheduled meeting there at 7pm. As we walked into the mall coming from the Edsa entrance, we kept looking around for signs of where the supposed "tech lounge" is. I had an intuition it would be closer to the other side of Galleria, at the exit going to Asian Development Bank (ADB).
So we walked there and saw the advertised signs. The signs were on every floor, so we got a bit confused. Where the heck is the Tech Lounge? We decided to try and stop by Bo’s Coffee shop. I opened my laptop and.. viola! I got wifi connection.. from airborneaccess!
For those who don’t know, airborneaccess is a paid wifi connection. Essentially, you have to buy a prepaid card from the coffee shop and enter the username/password combination before you could use Internet. Definitely, this wasn’t the free WIFI that Galleria was advertising.
I was a bit pissed off so we just closed my laptop, stood up and we asked the nearest guard, where is the Tech Lounge? You know what, he didn’t know what we meant. I assumed he wasn’t a tech person so we pointed at the advertised signs. He shrugged. We asked two other Galleria security guards and they didn’t know either.
My friend decided we ask the information counter. We continued walking inside the department store and asked what appeared to be the information counter - at one side of the area. It also appeared to be a Bayad center (where one could pay electricity bills and such). The lady informed us that this wasn’t the information center. It was located just near the EDSA entrance (where we came from!)
We had to walk all the way back to the Edsa entrance, just beside National Bookstore. We looked around and found that the INFORMATION CENTER was just a small booth sorrounded by all the tiangge stores around. One could hardly notice it.
The lady there was kind enought to inform us that there was really NO tech lounge and free WIFI was actually available at the entire East Wing.
Feet aching, we again walked all the way back, settled in a Dimsum and Dumplings restaurant, and turned on my laptop. She was correct, there was free WIFI here.
Feeling stupid now, I wish we had not relied on the ignorance of Security guards and did my research before going there. NOTE TO ROBINSONS GALLERIA: Please tell your guards where the tech lounge is!
