Starbucks, Edsa Shangrila
I am a coffee drinker. One of the gourmet coffee shops I frequent is Starbucks, in Edsa Shangrila Mall. There are two Starbucks coffee shops here.. one at the ground floor and one at the topmost
When I need perking up, I usually go for the Hot Cafe Mocha. Some of my friends consider it too sweet for their tastes. I’m okay with it.. but that’s probably my sweet tooth talking.
On tamer occasions I go for Hot Cafe Latte. I rarely go for their cold drinks.
Somehow, I seem to find myself in Starbucks, Shangrila on regular Friday evenings. It’s quite busy at this time since a number of people hang around the place. Most seem to be waiting for someone, others simply enjoy their coffee, while some of the guys prefer to quietly look at the girls with short skirts that pass in and out of the Mall.
Someone once asked me, “Who, in their right mind, would go to these coffee shops for a P120 coffee when you could just as easily buy a P10 Coffee drink over at McDonalds?”. I thought about this and figured… Well, you don’t really go the Starbucks for the coffee anymore. You go there to:
- 1. Enjoy the view of beautiful faces who pass by there.
- 2. Wait up and meet with someone while pretending to look cool.
- 3. Have a business meeting.
Perhaps you could add more to the list. Personally, I meet with business associates there since it’s relatively easy to get to. Those with cars could easily park within the car park just beside the mall itself. Those without cars could take the MetroRail Transit (MRT) from almost anywhere and get off at Edsa Shaw Boulevard Station. The way I see it, if you could close even a P10,000 business deal there, then your P120 coffee drink would be worth it.
