I’ve been using a K500i Sony Ericsson phone since September 2005. I was able to get it on a SMART (a telecommunication’s company here in the philippines) subscription plan 800. Plan 800 means you pay a monthly rate of at least a 800 Philippine pesos. There is a pre-set amount of calls and SMS messages that can be sent with that. If I go beyond the P800 limit, I am charged extra. To get the phone, I had to pay additional P1,200 aside from the subscription tie-up for two years.

The phone itself works as it should - sends SMS messages and allows me to call. My younger brother plays games on it and even composes some tunes with the MusicDJ application included.

It has a built-in camera. You could tilt the cellphone sideways and hold it like a camera - with a button on the top right side. I’ve used it many times to take pictures of me and my girlfriend. The resolution in not that high, but sufficient enough to take simple shots.
My main problem has been with the memory of the phone. It’s not expandable. Every now and then I have to erase an image, a song, or a message from it. The camera did not come with any form of connectivity to a computer other than the Infrared Port. It doesn’t have bluetooth.

All in all I think the phone is simple and efficient. I think it is good value for money.
